Incorporate a high level of integration that complemented the award-winning interior design of this sleek, modern home. Challenges included retrofitting fiber optic cabling to all video locations in the 18,000 sq. ft. home and separate guest house within a very narrow time frame. Along with the cabling, 98 wireless motorized Lutron shades had to be retrofitted. Coordination was key dealing with a team of out-of-state interior designers and local architects and sub-contractors. The homeowner enjoys new technology and wanted to integrate it into the home’s open design which features multiple entertaining areas. He required the ability to control the home’s many existing subsystems from one intuitive and simple application that made sense to his family and guests. The VIA team created efficiencies, reduced energy consumption, and created a more aesthetic home with eliminated wall clutter. In the end, this sophisticated, technology savvy client wanted the highest level of technology for the home, combined with a high level of service and support, both on-site and remotely. He also demanded that it be intuitive for his family and guests to use throughout the home.
We were extremely proud of this large integration project. The finished project included fiber based audio and video distribution, extensive power management and protection, 34 audio and 22 video zones, separate complete media rooms, multiple audio and video sources including distributed PC access, CCTV, streaming audio and video content, all seamlessly accessed via Android tablets and touchscreen handheld remotes. The home theater and second media room both feature custom Steinway Lyngdorf surround sound systems including the Model M series, the Model LS surround speakers, and custom boundary woofers. Both areas are supported by RoomPerfect™ room correction technology to deliver perfect sound reproduction with no need for special acoustic treatments. A fully integrated security system includes Security, Access Control, Video Surveillance, 98 motorized window shades, and complete lighting and fireplace integration. This home was awarded house of the year by Mountain Living Magazine. The key to the execution of this project was VIA’s design and project management team, who coordinated with the Manhattan-based interior design team, as well as the architect and builder, to ensure that the technology was incorporated into the interior design in an elegant and low-profile way.
